Whoo, here are all the Earthbound x Mob Psycho 100 battle screens I have been making! Making pixel art is really fun, I have learned.
I’m going to credit some very useful resources I used while making these to a reblog, since tumblr hates when posts have links to external sites.
Did you know that you can make fake 3D pixel art in Blender by just like turning anti-aliasing off?? And pixelizing post-effects? Sounds super simple but it took me forever to figure it out.
[ID: Three pixel animations of nature. The first one shows stars falling through the deep purple sky and the silhouettes of plants. The second gif shows water sparkling with sunlight in between rocks at dusk. The last gif shows light piercing through deep blue water from the surface. End ID.]
retro game genres that don’t need any more indie loveletters: 2d pixel art platformers, quirky earthbound-like rpgs
retro game genre that DOES need an indie loveletter: point and click adventure games with live action actors superimposed over really bad prerendered cg backgrounds with really comically bad acting and effects and the story and puzzles seem like something written by a crazy person
Okay but cross-stitching is literally just acoustic pixel art and you can’t convince me otherwise
That’s the highest quality version of the I Guess guy I’ve ever seen; bravo.
Friendly reminder that Stardew Valley was entirely created by One person.
Eric Barone.
It took him four years to create the game, and he made everything. I mean Everything. From the game coding, to the art, to the music. Eric Barone did it all. He knew next to nothing about game coding, pixel art, etc., and he learned it all himself. On top of that he was working as an usher at a movie theater while he was working on SDV.
Eric Barone is a legend
